leukosialin

leukosialin
(= CD43; sialophorin)
Widely distributed membrane-associated mucin, the major sialoglycoprotein of thymocytes and mature T-cells. Transmembrane protein with extensive O-linked glycosylation (75-85 oligosaccharides on the 239 residue extracellular domain). Extends at least 45nm beyond plasma membrane. Similar but not homologous to episialin.
